“God is going to surprise you,” Julian said as we were leaving the church last night.
“He already has surprised me!” I said in response. “I didn’t expect to receive what I received this weekend…”

I was truly amazed by all that happened this past weekend.  Here’s a quick outline:

The week before
We were moments away from canceling the entire worship conference because of lack of resources. Holy Week flights are very expensive and we had planned to fly in a pastor from Bogota as well as a musician that would come to help. We decided to continue with the event but only bring the pastor.  The young man who was planning to travel with him felt so strongly that he was to come that he offered to come by bus and pay his own fare.

Thursday
Julian, the young man who came by bus, arrived Thursday and taught a session for the worship team, followed by a music practice. Thursday night we had a “half night watch” from 7 to 11.

Friday
Planning to spend the day at the church, I left for a 10 am music practice (thinking I would have some time before a 4 pm drama practice) – but forgot my lunch. We rehearsed with Julian until 1:30. He invited me and Javier, another guest, to lunch. We walked to Exito (a grocery store) and ate. As we ate, I asked Julian to share on prayer. We walked back and the three of us spent the afternoon chatting about God’s faithfulness, faith, and prayer. Friday night’s service was excellent.

Saturday
Saturday was a full day at the church. The conference went from 8:30 am to 10 pm! We had a couple of breaks during the day but we were mostly occupied with worship, teaching, and ministry. I received many important things from the Father on Saturday! I wish I had the time to share with each of you personally what God did in my life.

Sunday
Sunday I left the house at 6:00 a.m. to help the youth small group clean the church.  The service was excellent and we were able to perform the drama we had been preparing. After the service we had lunch with the visitors then returned home to rest for awhile before the arrival of the Katios in the evening.

I came out of the weekend with a heart full of gratitude, inspired to pray and to be in the Word – inspired to learn more of this God who loves me enough to send people from far away to speak directly to my heart.

A God who surprises
