STATUS: Posting from Costa Rica (on a brief layover). Wrote this post on the plane – blessed with an exit row seat with enough room to use the laptop, stretch my legs, and lay back and sleep!! 🙂
“But He said to me, ‘My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.’ Therefore I will boast all the more in my weakness, for when I am weak, then I am strong.”
I am seeing His “sufficient” grace in a different light than ever before. I think I always thought of it as “enough for surviving” – like God was saying to Paul, “Buck up, you can survive this, my grace is enough to get you through.”
I’m beginning to see, though, that I had been ignoring the second part. His grace is “sufficient” – but it’s also POWER! It’s not just to survive, it’s to thrive. It’s an absolute empowerment of God to not just drudge through circumstances but to walk above them.
After a sleepless night, I was glad for the friend who reminded me that Paul, too, had sleepless nights (2 Cor 6:5). Yet, God’s all-sufficient grace empowered him to go beyond that circumstance (and many that were much worse!). Yes, truly, we are more than conquerors… and overwhelming victory is ours through Christ!
NOW? Costa Rica to Bogota, through customs, then Bogota to Monteria. I’ll arrive in Monteria around 5:00 p.m. CST.
