Dear blog reader,

I know… it’s been a long time since I’ve posted. I’m back now, hopefully to be a more frequent blogger. (We’ll see…)

You  may have noticed that I changed the title of my blog! It was previously the “Colombia Connection” but I wanted to give it something a bit more generic – and I know that I want my life to be poured out for the sake of Christ WHEREVER He leads me.

Really, though, what I want to share with you is a little bit about rest.  For those of you who don’t receive my email updates (let me know if you want to, and I’ll add you to my list!), you may not know that I’m in a season of preparation for going to Colombia again in January. While this season has been filled with intentional activities, I’m glad for the rest from the pressures I was facing before the summer (like full-time school along with my regular work schedule). I now work less hours than I ever have and I’m not in school, so I’ve managed to enjoy rich relationships and quite a bit of reading.

Even in the laid-back schedule, I felt this past week like it would be good to set aside a few days to rest… to get away from my apartment and enjoy the beautiful autumn weather and some fellowship with my Father. He opened up a wonderful door for me and I got to sleep for a  couple of nights in my hammock on a beautiful lake…

(Yes, one end of the hammock is tied to a grounded dock. It was the only option…)

This experience was wonderful for me. I walked for a few hours, read a lot, and sat by the campfire. I cooked my food over the fire in true camping spirit! (I made some delicious stew with steak, potatoes, corn, and carrots…)  I spent two nights by myself, just enjoying constant fellowship with the Father. Sunday night I was joined by my ever-adventurous friend AnnaLisa, and Monday we spent 5 hours canoeing… which was much more work that either of us had bargained for!

I’m so grateful that God gave me the opportunity to take this little camping trip. I look forward to sharing more on what He’s teaching me in the coming months!

And… I’m back!
