UPDATE: Things are going very well so far. I had a great night’s rest and I look forward to the day. We’ll travel by bus (about 2 hours) to San Marcos for a class G teaches tonight. We’ll spend the night there and return in the morning for a full day of unpacking (G moved into the house last week, so she still has some things to arrange too). The owner of the house is also coming to do some work and a few other things will be installed and readied for our use! We may also be able to get the internet at home hooked up; for now there are computers just two houses away where we can use the internet very inexpensively.
I’ve been listening to a couple of different series’ by John Bevere and this is something that really has me thinking as I traveled! I wrote this while I was on a flight…
The Law of Gravity pulls things to earth. We all experience this constantly. Incredibly, there’s another law that, when the right things are in place, has the ability to supersede the Law of Gravity – it’s the Law of Lift. I’m not a physicist, I don’t know how it all works. What I do know, though, is that as I’m writing this, the Law of Lift is working in my favor, carrying me above land and sea!
Each time I fly (5 flights for this trip!), I love the feeling when the plane’s wheels leave the ground. It’s astounding to me. And it brings to mind another two laws. While those previously mentioned are natural laws, there are also two spiritual laws that are at work.
The Law of Sin and Death, as Romans describes, has a set of “righteous requirements” (8:4). Yet, by the incredible redemptive act of Christ, we are no longer bound by this law. There is a law that supersedes it – it’s the Law of the Spirit of Life. The Holy Spirit within us has a superseding law – one that says that regardless of the circumstances, we are victorious. We are able to “fly above” all that is happening around us and live on a completely different level as we walk in step with the Spirit. My joy abounds because the Law of the Spirit of Life is working in my favor, carrying me above what’s happening around me!
