Habakkuk 2:3 – “And the LORD answered me: “Write the vision; make it plain on tablets, so he may run who reads it. For still the vision awaits its appointed time; it hastens to the end—it will not lie. If it seems slow, wait for it; it will surely come; it will not delay.”
Vision is very important. To have a vision is to have focus, direction, and a sense of clarity. For several months, I wrestled with my personal and ministry vision. (I wrote about it, too – see the post Vision Conclusion that includes links to various blogs I wrote as I thought about my vision.) I wanted to “write the vision” like verse 2 talks about above, but it “seemed slow” in coming!
As I’ve returned to Colombia, I’m seeing vision come like I never saw it before – both long-term vision and short-term vision. I’m amazed how God has been showing me my role and speaking things to my heart. It was worth the wait!
Hebrews 10:37 quotes this verse from Habakkuk, but in reference to something much more important than life vision: Jesus. He is coming soon; He will not delay. Both passages make it clear: the righteous live by faith. We live with an expectation that not only will He guide us step by step in His plan for our lives, but He will return and take us to be with Him for eternity. What an amazing promise we have!
We are entering into a busy week with the Katios. Only two have arrived so far; please pray that others will be able to join us! My friend Bethany and I are mostly helping with logistics and observing how the Holy Spirit is teaching these Christian leaders who will be able to take what they’ve learned to their families and communities. Thanks for praying!
