“This is the heritage of the servants of the Lord,” Isaiah tells us (54:17).  This makes me think twice.  What is heritage?  I began thinking about the difference between “heritage” and “inheritance.” From what I found, it seems that an inheritance has more to do with money or possessions, while a heritage has more to do with values, traditions, and legacy.

It’s possible that a very faithful servant could receive part of a father’s inheritance. But it seems to me that it’s just about impossible for a servant to receive a heritage. But… that is the God we serve. Not only as children, but as servants, we have a heritage from God.

So, what is it?

“No weapon formed against you shall prosper, and every tongue that rises up against you, you shall condemn” (Isaiah 54:17a).

Two parts of this incredible heritage (the legacy God leaves for us):
1. We are protected from the attacks of the enemy
2. We have authority to silence the voice of the enemy.

Just in case you were thinking that somehow you were deserving of this…
“…And their righteousness is from Me.”

It has nothing to do with our performance. It has everything to do with whether or not we will receive this heritage and walk in it. (Just as with a natural heritage, a child can choose to reject his parents’ legacy or accept it and walk in it.)

No weapon formed against me will prosper. Every tongue that rises up against me, I condemn. This is my heritage as a servant of the Lord, an my righteousness is from Him.

This has nothing to do with heritage, but I thought you might enjoy seeing some pictures from our latest drama practice. We’re working on an intense drama for Easter.  It gets pretty crazy! 🙂
