The vision saga continues. If you’ve been a regular blog reader, perhaps you read the first two blogs I wrote on this topic, The vision cocoon and Vision puzzle. The past three months, I have been on a discovery of what the plan of God is for my life. I have come to see this plan in a new way the past couple of weeks.
By faith Abraham, when called to go to a place he would later receive as his inheritance, obeyed and went, even though he did not know where he was going.
Hebrews 11:8
Abraham didn’t know where he was going. Sometimes we have a lot of pressure to know where we’re going. This pressure comes for a variety of reasons. Sometimes, though, God calls us simply to “obey” – not to “foresee” the future. Abraham’s vision wasn’t to conquer a territory. He had one vision: believe God.
The God that Abraham knew was worth believing.
After this, the word of the LORD came to Abram in a vision: “Do not be afraid, Abram. I am your shield, your very great reward.”
Genesis 15:1
With God as his shield and his reward, Abraham had one vision: doing what He said. Walking in obedience. Walking in fellowship. (How can you obey the call of a voice you don’t recognize? How do you recognize the voice of Someone you don’t intimately know? How do you intimately know someone you don’t spend time with?)
I have a refocused vision…
“Let us fix our eyes on Jesus, the Author and Perfecter of our faith…” (Heb 12:2).
A beautiful view of the mountains from the chapel area…
