While I like my bedroom for sleeping, it tends to be a little too dark for sitting during the day. In the warmest part of the afternoon, the back room that we’ve designated as the office and eating area is the most pleasant – with two windows and a ceiling fan, it stays fairly cool. During the morning hours, though, one of my favorite places is on the couch in front of the main window that faces the street.
I live in a fairly quiet “suburb” of the big city. There’s one main entrance to the suburb, and we live on the main avenue that stretches all the way through. From the time I’m up at 5 or so, there are constantly people walking and biking and some on motorcycles – and a few cars. It’s not uncommon to see two people on a bicycle – even three if one is small enough!
The neighbor across the street was one of the first in this neighborhood, so I hear. I can imagine she’s seen an incredible amount of change and growth.
As you turn into the entrance to the suburb, you are met by a cotton field on one side of the road and two prominent buildings on the other: the police station and the legalized brothel. I don’t know a lot about the brothel, but I do know that they are selling part of their lots. Perhaps that means business is not going as before? We can only pray and believe that God will use the for-sale lot for His glory.
I enjoy sitting by the window watching what goes on in the neighborhood, and I wanted to give you a picture of it, too. I only regret you can’t hear the sounds or see on this video some of the idiosyncrasies of this place… like the chickens that roam into our yard to peck at the plants or the construction workers that go by on their bicycles with an incredible amount of supplies.

Welcome to my neighborhood!
